SUMMARY:Management Sciences Seminar | Jonathan Yu-Meng Li: \"Optimization f
 or\nMeasuring Risk in Stochastic Programs\"
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Accounting for the adverse impact of \"non-average\" events has
become\nessential in many applications involving decision making under\nu
ncertainty. Its implementation through decision models\, namely\nstochast
ic programs\, requires careful measurement of risk that\nreflects one's c
oncern about uncertain outcomes. Important theories\nsuch as convex risk m
easures outline conditions required for risk\nmeasurement but provide lit
tle guidance for cases not meeting the\nconditions. Unfortunately\, such
cases are more than common in\nreal-life situations.
