Management Sciences professor wins prestigious "Test of Time" award

Prof. Olga Vechtomova of the Department of Management Sciences, together with colleagues Charlie Clarke and Gordon Cormack from the Cheriton School of Computer Science as well as former graduate students, were recently awarded the 2019 ACM SIGIR Test of Time Award. The award acknowledged the impact of their paper titled Novelty and Diversity in Information Retrieval Evaluation

MSCI professor weighs in on "unplugging" and work-life balance

Former Management Sciences professor Ada Barlatt was recently featured in a Global News article on the effects of increased internet use among Canadians. Prof. Barlatt, who has founded a digital consulting company aimed at striking a work-life balance with technology - while also serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, weighed in on workplace pressures to stay connected and how they might be affecting work-life balance.
