Congratulations to the Waterloo Management Engineering students who participated in the Institute of Industrial Engineers National Student Conference, held January 19-21 in Halifax. This was the first time Waterloo has sent a delegation to this conference and our team did extremely well:
- Amanda Leduc (4B) won first prize in the Technical Paper competition.
- Christopher Smellie (4B) won second prize in the Technical Paper competition for a paper he co-authored with Alex Dueck (4B) and Michael Quinlin (4B).
- The team of Yousif Al-Khder (4B), Molly Beckel (3B), Helen Jiang (3B), and Pranav Sampat (4B) won second prize in the Theoretical Competition -- a 3 hour exam of academic knowledge related to industrial engineering.
- Finally, Waterloo Management Engineers won the overall conference grand prize -- the "Golden I" trophy -- which is awarded based on points earned for winning individual and team competitions, for contributing a school video and cheer, and for participating in many different conference events.
The Waterloo delegation included:
Harleen Ahuja, Yousif Al-Khder, Molly Beckel, Anirudh Cavale, Karen Choi, Alex Dueck, Tim Hong, Helen Jiang, Amanda Leduc, Hobyung Lee, Sally Lee, Curtiss Luong, Megan Maguire, Pranav Sampat, Chris Smellie, and Jennifer Yip. Special thanks to Sarah Sleiman for her video production savvy.
