The Computer Equipment Lifecycle

Introduction

Lots of people ask why we replace hardware that is still functioning.  Here is my long winded answer.

Birth

Computer equipment starts out working well. The user is happy for the performance improvement over the recently replaced system.  Over time there might be a slow decrease in performance but it is tolerable and the user is productive.  This period of good productivity is the useful life of the equipment.

Aging

Devices managed by MFCF and connected to the network should be powered on at all times so management tasks can complete.
