Happy new year!
We begin 2015 with some staff changes in the Faculty. Amelia Burton has taken over as Director, Undergraduate Recruitment and International, while Meg McLellan is on maternity leave. In Amelia’s place, I’m pleased to welcome Pamela Hurvid. Pam has been seconded as our Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Officer, joining us from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. Also, Meaghan Middleton-Firman has re-joined our Math advancement team as Development Officer.
Check out the new CEMC open secondary school courseware, featuring on-screen text with synchronized audio and interactive investigations that teach the concepts from Grade 12 Advanced Functions (Pre-Calculus) and Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors. The majority of the material for each course is now available.
Elyot Grant and Will Ma, our 2010 Alumni Association Gold Medallist and 2010 K.D. Fryer Gold Medallist respectively, have been in the news recently.
Faculty members are invited to nominate an alumnus for the J.W. Graham Medal in Computing Innovation. The nomination deadline is Friday, January 30th.
Finally, the contract has now been awarded for the reconstruction of the former IST space at the south end of the 6th floor of MC. Work is expected to begin in January, and we hope to be occupying the new space by the Spring term.
