Dean's Message - January 2016

Happy New Year!  Welcome to 2016 = 4 x 7 x 8 x 9!

I wish everyone another successful year, with the added excitement of preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Faculty in 2017.

Congratulations to Chris Godsil and co-author Karen Meagher on the publication of their book Erdős–Ko–Rado Theorems: Algebraic Approaches.

I’d also like to congratulate Math alumnus Peter Szulczewski, who has been named to the 2015 Forbes Top 40 Under 40. Peter is CEO of e-commerce startup Wish, co-founded with fellow Waterloo Math alumnus, Danny Zhang.  Peter and Danny generously support the Faculty through Wish scholarships and support for our ACM teams' participation in the International Collegiate Programming Contest.

We get asked from time to time for a Waterloo-themed slide format.   With the new year comes a new look: if you use PowerPoint, you can use the new University of Waterloo slide templates featuring photos of our campus and students.
