4. Strategic Priorities and Goals

The Faculty of Mathematics has identified seven strategic priority areas and associated goals to be pursued to 2017. These priorities and goals were developed through broad consultation and are aligned with and complement the University of Waterloo’s Sixth Decade Plan (2007 - 2017), Pursuing Global Excellence: Seizing Opportunities for Canada. Research, graduate education and undergraduate education are central to the achievement of the Faculty’s mission and vision of success. Thus, associated goals are “core” to the achievement of the desired outcomes outlined in this plan. Five additional priority areas, their goals and associated strategies, while important in their own right, will contribute to and “enable” the achievement of the core goals. In addition, our goals are interdependent, so our efforts in one area will simultaneously contribute to and accelerate the realization of goals in other areas.
