Become a Math Ambassador

Share your Mathie pride with the next incoming class!

The role of our Faculty of Mathematics Ambassadors is to share their experiences during undergraduate recruitment initiatives, such as campus open houses (Fall Open House, March Break Open House, You @ Waterloo Day) and outreach campaigns.

Ambassador responsibilities may include:

  • speaking with prospective students and their stakeholders
  • answering questions about your program
  • leading tours
  • participating in presentations and panels
  • responding to prospective student questions via email
  • helping to run behind-the-scenes components of recruitment events
  • contributing to special projects
  • participating in focus groups

The typical time commitment for ambassadors is 20 hours per term (including training). Training is mandatory and must be attended each term that you plan to volunteer. Through this role, you'll have the opportunity to improve your teamwork, communication, public speaking, and event management skills.

Depending on the number of applications we receive, we may not be able to hire all those who apply. Candidates will be contacted in August. Those planning to be an ambassador in fall 2021 should save the following date and time for online training: Thursday, September 2, 5:00-6:30pm (EDT).

We anticipate that Math recruitment activities for the Fall 2021 term will be virtual.

Questions about this opportunity can be directed to Leanne Zonneveld.

To apply, complete the application below by end of day Monday, July 26, 2021.
