Why Waterloo?
I chose Waterloo for the endless amount of opportunities that its Co-op Program presents along with having the only faculty of Mathematics in Canada. I was introduced to Actuarial Science during first year, and having never heard of the subject before arriving here, I felt that Waterloo's program would provide me with the perfect amount of challenge and support to be on my way as a well - round insurance profession al.
Advice for first-year students
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Ask your professors, ask your TA's, ask upper year students, ask the girl sitting in front of you in class. Help will always be given at Waterloo to those that ask for it and I am lucky to have met some of my best friends scavenging for assignment answers in the MC Tutorial Center or during frantic runs to see my advisor in first year. I guess Math just has the power of bringing people together :)
