SUMMARY:WIN Thematic Seminar Series: Sustainable Nanomaterials for\nEnviron
 mental Management Systems
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable nanomaterials\, such as cellulose nanocrystals (CNC
 s) are\nrod-like nanoparticles obtained by sulfuric acid hydrolysis of\nce
llulose fibres. Several properties of CNCs\, such as their\navailability\,
low cost\, high mechanical strength\, a large number of\nsurface function
al groups\, high surface area per volume and aspect\nratio have led to an
increasing interest in using them for adsorption\nand controlled release a
pplications. Pristine CNCs were incorporated\ninto hydrogel beads in order
to eliminate the need for centrifugation.
