This year, hosted once again by the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging, Dr. Deborah van den Hoonaard from St. Thomas University, will be giving her lecture on 'Learning to be Old'.

"Today we have a life expectancy that earlier ages could not have dreamed of. Even though an aging population is the hallmark of a successful society, beliefs that underlie ageism pervade contemporary thinking. This provocative talk explains that we learn to be old and accept myths associated with aging through the way people treat us. It uses the results of Dr. van den Hoonaard’s 20 years of research and personal experience to illustrate this process."

Presented by the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging in partnership with the Geriatric Education and Research in Aging Sciences Centre and Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton.

This is a free event, with free parking. Doors will open at 2:30PM.
