Research park, international study award named after David Johnston

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010) - The University of Waterloo has bestowed a double honour on its departing president David Johnston, Canada’s Governor General Designate, by naming the university’s bustling research and technology park and a new international student award after him.

World experts discuss intercountry adoptions at University of Waterloo summit in Stratford

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010) - International adoption experts and advocates will attend a special University of Waterloo summit in next week in Stratford to discuss the current and future status of intercountry adoptions, a global phenomenon involving more than 38,000 adoptions annuallly and billions of dollars every year.

The Intercountry Adoption Summit: State of Intercountry Adoption will be held from Thursday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 26 at the Arden Park Hotel.

Beckie Scott gives University of Waterloo public talk on Olympics, clean sport

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010) - Beckie Scott, the first North American woman to capture a cross-country skiing Olympic gold medal, will discuss the practice of clean sport among other topics during the University of Waterloo's Friends of the Library lecture and authors event next week.

New University of Waterloo process promises to revolutionize manufacturing of products

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010) - A new "smart materials" process - Multiple Memory Material Technology - developed by University of Waterloo engineering researchers promises to revolutionize the manufacture of diverse products such as medical devices, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), printers, hard drives, automotive components, valves and actuators.
