University of Waterloo grad wins gold medals in national accounting competition

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Dec. 12, 2011) - For the second consecutive year, a recent graduate from the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) at the University of Waterloo has won the national and provincial gold medals for the Chartered Accountancy Uniform Final Examination (UFE).

Waterloo Engineering spin-off wins recognition for smart materials technology

High school students attend Kinesiology Lab Days at University of Waterloo

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011) - Imagine being able to propel an electric model car around a classroom using only the electrical signals from your muscles. That’s just one of the intriguing health and movement lab applications that more than 1,000 Ontario high school students will experience at the University of Waterloo's Kinesiology Lab Days taking place weekdays from today to Dec. 16.

Waterloo Engineering researchers to showcase innovations at public event

WATERLOO, Ont. (Friday, Dec. 2, 2011) - Some of the brightest minds in the faculty of engineering at the University of Waterloo will be showcasing their leading-edge research Wednesday, Dec. 7 on the main Waterloo campus.

More than 40 exhibits will be displayed at the WE Innovate event from 4 to 7 p.m. on the third floor of the Engineering 5 building. The public event will include demonstrations of:

• mechatronic devices used in planetary rovers and sports engineering

• adhesive technology that mimics a gecko’s footpad

Waterloo hosts longest-running federal-provincial conference simulation

WATERLOO, Ont., (Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011) - Several hundred high school students in Waterloo Region will participate in Canada's longest-running simulated federal-provincial conference at the University of Waterloo next Tuesday (Dec. 7) and Wednesday (Dec. 8).

The annual event, organized by Waterloo's political science department and the regional history heads association, has been held at the university for last 46 years. A total of 370 students will attend the conference.
