Sept. 28, 2011 WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011) - A leading meteorology expert will examine new perspectives being used by the climate change community to assess threats to critical resources of water, food, energy, human health and ecosystem function during a public lecture this week at the University of Waterloo.

Sept. 27, 2011 WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011) - The senior research advisor to the Canadian Index of Wellbeing - a national index measuring wellbeing that goes beyond the gross domestic product - will give a public lecture at the University of Waterloo this week to share insights on its creation.

Alex Michalos, Hallman Visiting Professor, will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 28 to talk about the challenges of developing a national wellbeing index and give some initial thoughts on the full composite index that will be released in October.

Sept. 26, 2011 WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Sept. 26, 2011) - Internationally acclaimed philosopher Ian Hacking will discuss the human use of mathematics during a prestigious public lecture at the University of Waterloo next week.

Sept. 22, 2011 WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011) - More than 100 young women interested in what a future in engineering could hold for them will make their way to the University of Waterloo next week for the seventh annual Go Eng Girl! event.

The girls, in Grades 7 to 10, will have a chance to discover firsthand what engineering is all about at the all-day event, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 1.

Sept. 21, 2011 WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011) - Prem Watsa, one of Canada's top business leaders, has been re-elected by the university senate as chancellor of the University of Waterloo.

Watsa, chairman and CEO of Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., will serve a second three-year term, beginning May 1, 2012. His current three-year term of office ends April 30, 2012. As Waterloo's ninth chancellor, Watsa presides over convocation ceremonies, conferring degrees, diplomas and certificates on graduating students. He also serves as a leading ambassador for the university.
