University of Waterloo Students Win $20,000 in RBC Innovation Challenge

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012) – For the second year in a row, University of Waterloo students from the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program dominated the RBC Next Great Innovator Challenge, taking home first prize and $20,000 in cash.

Waterloo surpassed four finalist teams from other established Canadian institutions.

Waterloo experts showcase solutions and innovation at international meeting on science

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012) - The innovative work of some the University of Waterloo’s top scientists is on an international stage at one of the most widely recognized science events in the world.

Leading Waterloo researchers will share their expertise and the results of their work at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual Meeting that runs until Feb. 20 in Vancouver. Researchers, journalists, students and policy-makers from nearly 60 countries attend.

University of Waterloo supports teaching excellence with new program

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012) - The University of Waterloo announced today a new program to enhance the depth and effectiveness of student learning at the institution.

Geoff McBoyle, vice-president academic & provost at Waterloo unveiled the University Teaching Fellows program to guests at Back to Class, an event highlighting innovation in teaching at the university. Local and provincial elected officials attended the presentation, which took place in tandem with similar activities at other universities in Ontario.
