University of Waterloo completes 113th convocation

More than 2,200 students received degrees as part of the University of Waterloo’s 113th convocation, which took place this week. There were 1,279 undergraduate degrees and 970 graduate degrees conferred.

UWaterloo to lead national initiative to manage hazardous waste from mining

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded $5.5 million to the University of Waterloo to lead a national team of experts in developing sustainable strategies for dealing with hazardous mine wastes.

University of Waterloo hosts conversation and book signing with the Governor General

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present his latest book, The Idea of Canada: Letters to a Nation, at the University of Waterloo this week. A conversation and book signing with the Governor General will take place at the new Hagey Hub, in the Hagey Hall addition, on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 5 p.m.

UWaterloo’s Writing Centre celebrates 40 years, and kicks off speaker series with CBC Radio host Nora Young

The University of Waterloo’s Writing Centre celebrates 40 years of helping students and staff develop their academic and professional writing and communication skills.

The Writing Centre at Waterloo, is launching a speaker series in celebration of this milestone.  The series will explore the rapidly changing world of communications and writing.  Nora Young, well-known author and host of the CBC Radio show Spark with Nora Young, is the first speaker of the three-part series on October 20 at 4:30 p.m.
