Top Canadian startups pitch to one hundred-plus investors during Ontario-California tech tour

At opportunities organized by Canada’s leading entrepreneurship programs, more than 100 U.S. and Canadian financers lined up to evaluate 43 of the most investment-ready tech startups in the Toronto-Waterloo Corridor.

The investors were introduced to the companies at an invite-only Demo Day event held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View California on November 7, as well as a similar event held for Canadian investors in Toronto on October 19.

Expert Advisory - Toronto faces shortage of family-friendly condos

Several UWaterloo experts from the Faculty of Environment are available to discuss the survey of 18- to 39-year-olds for the Toronto Region Board of Trade that all areas of the city need to make room for denser housing such as bigger condos, townhouses, laneway homes and granny suites.

Artificial sweeteners in groundwater indicate contamination from septic systems

The presence of artificial sweeteners in rural groundwater shows evidence for contamination by local septic system wastewater, researchers from the University of Waterloo have found.

The study, which appears in the Journal of Environmental Quality, describes how the researchers tested private, rural groundwater wells in the Nottawasaga River Watershed for four artificial sweeteners as a way to detect groundwater impacted by human wastewater being released by septic systems in the area.

Waterloo partners to train next generation of aviators as possible global pilot shortage looms

The University of Waterloo will partner with a special agency of the United Nations to offer an introductory course on aviation that anyone in the world can take for free.
