Virtual reality could recalibrate neurological disorders

Playing games in virtual reality (VR) could be a key tool in treating people with neurological disorders such as autism, schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease.

The technology, according to a recent study from the University of Waterloo, could help individuals with these neurological conditions shift their perceptions of time, which their conditions lead them to perceive differently.

University of Waterloo names new dean of Arts

The University of Waterloo has appointed Sheila Ager as the next dean of its Faculty of Arts.

A faculty member at Waterloo since 1987, Professor Ager is a full professor in the Department of Classical Studies and currently serves as interim chair for the Department of Fine Arts.

UW grad student creates first standardized Arabic reading acuity chart

A graduate student at the University of Waterloo has developed the first standardized chart to measure vision for reading in Arabic – a language spoken by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
