He will discuss similarities between the two seemingly dissimilar endeavours, including the roles perseverance and serendipity play in both.

Stonebraker is a pioneer of data base research and technology, a professor at MIT, and the 2014 winner of the A.C.M. Turing Award,  considered the highest honour in computer science.
