The Waterloo Innovation Summit 2017 will bring together some of the world’s top private and public sector leaders to tackle the disruptive and defining trends that are driving innovation in Canada and globally.

Hosted by the University of Waterloo, with presenting sponsor Communitech, this event taking place from September 13 to 15, 2017 will engage and inspire CEOs, entrepreneurs, academic, community and policy leaders.

The future can’t wait. Tomorrow is too late to start developing and scaling the disruptive technologies, adaptation solutions, and policies and people strategies that will move the economy and society forward. That’s why this year’s Waterloo Innovation Summit — Hacking the Future — has been purpose-built to explore here-and-now innovations and ideas needed to shape tomorrow.

The University of Waterloo is pleased to announce its 2017 Waterloo Innovation Summit co-chairs: Amanda Lang, host on Bloomberg TV Canada, and Jordan Banks, managing director of Facebook and Instagram Canada.

“I am keen to return for a second year to a regional ecosystem that lives and breathes innovation,” said Lang, a seasoned journalist who brings business know-how and interviewing skills honed at CBC, BNN, The Globe and Mail and the National Post.

“Fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is critically important to the future of our great country,” said Banks. “The companies that are succeeding today are those that not only make bold decisions, but are optimized for speed, scale and simplicity. At Facebook, ‘hacking the future’ is part of our DNA and I look forward to sharing a few of our experiences and hearing from some of the most thought-provoking speakers and creative minds in our industry.”

Canadian futurist Nikolas Badminton will serve as strategic curator for the summit.

Please visit the event website as we announce speakers over the coming weeks. Registration opens May 10, 2017.
