The Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program (MAREP) at the University of Waterloo will host a free public lecture and panel discussion tomorrow about the positive effects of music on individuals living with memory loss and dementia. January is Alzheimer Awareness Month.

Bev Foster, from Room 217 Foundation, will present the keynote lecture. The event also includes a panel discussion including someone diagnosed with dementia, a family partner in care, and two music therapists.

Michel Allard, a local composer, will debut a new song written in partnership with the members of Memory Boosters, a social club for people living with dementia and their family members.

The afternoon will conclude with the presentation of the Kenneth Murray Partnership in Dementia Award.

Admission, refreshments and parking in lot X are free, with a shuttle available to deliver guests from the parking lot to the event.
