This map provides information on specific types of housing found in each area, and displays common landmarks and amenities, as well as Grand River Transit routes located in each zone.

Know your zone

Zone 1 - Southwest
Student housing options include traditional houses, as well as duplexes and townhouses. Boarding is also common in this area.

Zone 2 - Northwest
A residential neighbourhood home to people of all ages – young professionals, young families and older generations.

Zone 3 - Lakeshore
Student housing options in this area include traditional housing, duplex, town houses, and some older apartment buildings. The Sunnidale and Parkside neighbourhoods are highly student-populated.

Zone 4 - Northeast
The ward includes a mix of housing including co-operative living; assisted living; multi-residential and single family dwellings.

Zone 5 - Southeast
This huge swath of our city has some of our oldest neighbourhoods mixed in with our newest neighbourhoods and it is this blend of streetscapes that makes ward 5 unique.

Zone 6 - Central Columbia
This zone directly surrounds the University of Waterloo and Wilfred Laurier University and has a variety of housing options available including Waterloo Residences.

Zone 7 - Uptown Waterloo
Featuring a wide selection of amenities and entertainment venues, this eclectic neighbourhood has something to offer students, professionals, and families alike.

Students can find many housing options in Kitchener, including Downtown Kitchener, near the Pharmacy School, and close to Conestoga College.
