CE 2020 weekend to be rescheduled
The School of Optometry & Vision Science has been closely monitoring the developments pertaining to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and its impact on our continuing professional development (CPD/CE) programming.
The environment continues to evolve rapidly, and, like you, we are doing our best to navigate the situation with the safety and well-being of learners and our community as our top priority.
In light of the current global health crisis, we have made the decision to defer our CE 2020 weekend, scheduled for June 5-7, to a later date. We are tentatively rescheduling for the fall. We will notify you as soon as we have confirmed this date and the details.
This decision was not an easy one, as we understand that December 2020 marks the end of the current three-year continuing education (CE) cycle. However, given the current situation, we want to ensure we are doing our part to protect the community.
We are committed to quality CE development and delivery. We are currently working on ways to adapt our program to ensure you receive 20 hours of CE by the end of December 2020.
Registration remains open. If you register for the full conference, you will receive 20 hours of CE through a hybrid of on-line and in-person programming.
Other CE programming
The 32-hour Advanced Procedures for Optometry program remains scheduled for August 27-30th and is moving forward as planned. Limited spots will be available so please visit the School’s CE website for more information on the program and registration.
We are here for you
As we continue to monitor this evolving situation and any new developments, we base our actions and decisions on recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the University of Waterloo, and other relevant local authorities.
If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please contact Chao Yang, Continuing Professional Development Coordinator.
