Flanagan will present a lecture entitled Glial Cell Activation Following BiomechaniGlial Cell Activation Following Biomechanical Insult: A Model for the Initial Insult in Glaucoma?
We have the distinct pleasure of introducing Drs Arthur Bookman and Allan Slomovic, who will present a 2-hour lecture entitled Update on the Diagnosis and Management of Keratitis Sicca and Sjogren's Syndrome.
These two doctors are both clinicians/ researchers and are known to be experts in their fields, which includes Sjogren's Syndrome. They are both involved with the multi-disiplinary Sjogren's Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital, and are on the Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Boards of the Canadian Sjogren's Society.

The University of Waterloo Optometry & Vision Science Welcome Week will run from September 4-8, 2012. This event was launched in 2011 as an inaugural activity for Optometry students, faculty and staff.
While some events are designed specifically for first year students as orientation activities, all members of the School community will be included in many of the events as we welcome in a new school year.

Please plan to attend an exciting series of Vision Science Research Seminars presented in uWaterloo's School of Optometry and Vision Science. We have invited a list of speakers with international reputations. The seminar topics will range from basic vision science to clinical trials. Seminars are planned for Friday afternoons at 3:30pm, with a reception following the talk to stimulate social interaction between the speaker, faculty, students and our guests.
