The Canadian Optometry Schools research conference (COSRC) is an opportunity for the two Canadian Schools to meet, share their research results and network. Traditionally, it has been an opportunity for students may present their work in a friendly atmosphere.

The Class of 2017 White Coat Ceremony will take place on Monday November 18, 2013. The ceremony will again be held in the Barbara and Jacob Sivak Lecture Theatre (OPT 347) at 6:00 p.m. followed by a non-alcoholic reception in the Student Commons area.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, the 3rd annual Case ShowCase (PDF) will take place at the School of Pharmacy in Kitchener. This event is run by the Interprofessional Educators Collaborative (IPEC) of Waterloo-Wellington. All students, staff and faculty at the School of Optometry and Vision Science are invited to attend.
Allergan has partnered with the School of Optometry and Vision Science to provide a Glaucoma Lecture Series wherein an expert in the field provides a lecture, and a case format is then used to springboard discussion. These are 2 hour sessions with a light dinner provided beforehand at 6:00pm. Dr. Danica Marrelli will provide the first Fall term lecture on Monday, November 4, 2013.

This week's TPA Lecture Series will take place on October 16th. Dr. Harold Kim will provide a one hour lecture entitled, "The Allergy Epidemic: Emerging trends". Dr. Kim has a great deal of insight into the allergic epidemic and its effect on our populations — both our patients and ourselves! He comes with a wealth of knowledge as an educator at both McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario. He is also a member or lead on a number of Canadian guidelines in allergy and immunology.
The second lecture for this year's TPA Lecture Series will take place on October 9th, 2013. We have the distinct pleasure of introducing Drs.
The 2013 Optometry Rack Pack will be participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday October 6, 2013, which raises money for breast cancer research. Continuing Education (CE) Weekend 2013
The School of Optometry and Vision Science Continuing Education (CE) 2013 weekend will focus on primary care optometry. Many aspects of primary care will be covered including management of anterior segment disease, management of glaucoma, what’s new in contact lenses, management of the low vision patient, sports vision, management of dry eye disease and children’s vision.
