SUMMARY:Adopting a targeted approach to dry eye management – What is the\
 nevidence telling us?
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT FOR ONLINE PRESENTATION BY DR. JENNIFER CRAIG\n\nThe r
ange of available dry eye treatment strategies has expanded in\nrecent yea
rs providing many more options for patients and the\nclinicians who care f
or them yet knowing which option(s) to select as\na starting point still r
emains somewhat of a challenge. The TFOS DEWS\nII report recommended a sou
nd stepwise approach to dry eye management\,\ntaking into account the dry
eye disease subtype and severity\, but\nrecognized shortcomings in the evi
dence base to support targeted\ntreatment recommendations. Since the Works
hop’s publication in 2017\nthere has been half a decade more research wh
ich has more closely\nevaluated treatments for dry eye\, seeking to confir
m treatment\nefficacy in subpopulations of dry eye to help guide practitio
ners in\nmanaging their patients. This presentation will focus on some of
the\nrecent research evaluating therapies that range from widely available
 \npatient-applied treatments through to more specialized\, in-office\nther
apies\, to assist practitioners in creating targeted treatment\nplans for
individual patients.\n\nPlease contact Angela Hare (vsrss@scimail.uwaterl
 oo.ca) to register.
