Congratulations to Professor Thomas Freddo, from the Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, who has been re-appointed to serve another term as Consultant to the US Food and Drug Administration's Ophthalmic Devices Panel of the Medical Device Advisory Committee. This Committee is responsible for review of all applications seeking FDA approval of new medical devices in the USA, including IOLs and contact lenses and ophthalmic surgical devices.
A heart-felt congratulations goes out to the 2013 Optometry Rack Pack, who raised over $18,000 in support of breast cancer research through the CIBC Run For the Cure. This is the team’s inaugural year, and they were the 3rd highest fundraising team for the Kitchener-Waterloo area!
One of our own, Kristine Dalton, has been the focus of an article in the Waterloo Record about her research on sports and vision. Dalton's research seeks to improve athletes' hand-eye co-ordination, depth perception and eye tracking, and she is currently working with varsity athletes at the University of Waterloo.
