The School of Optometry and Vision Science is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Ben Thompson as an Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Thompson took up his position on May 1st, and arrives at the School from an academic position in the Department of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is no stranger to Canada, having worked at Queen’s University from 2002-2004, and a post-doctoral fellowship at McGill University from 2006-2008.

Abnormal binocular vision, which involves the way eyes work together as a team, increases dramatically as we age, according to research from the University of Waterloo. The study also found a correlation between this condition, general health and antidepressant use.
