A heart-felt congratulations goes out to the 2013 Optometry Rack Pack, who raised over $18,000 in support of breast cancer research through the CIBC Run For the Cure. This is the team’s inaugural year, and they were the 3rd highest fundraising team for the Kitchener-Waterloo area! There were over 40 “Rack Pack” team members including optometry faculty, staff, students and graduate students, as well as family and friends from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science (UWOVS), who walked or ran the 1km/5km race at Conestoga College.
The Rack Pack would like to thank everyone who purchased “Cookies for the Cure” and participated in UWOVS First Annual Pink Ribbon Day on Friday October 4, 2013. A special thank you goes out to Marie Amodeo for donating a lock of her hair for each pink ribbon sold.
The Run for the Cure was inspiring to all who attended – so be ready to tie up your laces for next year’s event when the goal is to have multiple teams from optometry clinics nationwide join the “Optometry Rack Pack”!
