The School of Optometry and Vision Science held a retirement celebration for Dr. Murray Turnour on Tuesday, August 29th. Dr. Turnour has provided leadership and passionate support for the International Optometric Bridging Program (IOBP) over the past 5 years, in addition to teaching as a lecturer for the School, beginning in 1975. From 1975 – 1982, he was a Clinical Instructor and then continued on as an associate professor in undergraduate teaching, delivering a course in optometric jurisprudence to optometry students.
The University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science is also pleased to announce that Dr. Jenna Bright has accepted the position of Director of the IOBP program. She brings a wealth of experience to the position having served as IOBP Program Manager for the past 6 years.
Dr. Turnour has been an invaluable asset to the IOBP and has made significant contributions to Optometry in Canada throughout his career. I feel very fortunate to have worked with Murray and I have benefited from his leadership which will assist me in my new role as IOBP Director.
Also joining IOBP is Dr. Janessa Vos who has accepted teh position of Program Manager. Dr. Vos is a practicing optometrist, and has supported the IOBP as a clinical instructor for several years.
