Biography

Born November 1956 in Kincardine, Ontario; raised and educated in Toronto. Graduate with OD from the University of Waterloo in 1979; recipient of College of Optometrists of Ontario gold medal for general proficiency upon graduation. Managed a successful solo private practice in Haliburton, Ontario from 1979 to 1985. Part-time clinical faculty (lecturer), University of Waterloo, School of Optometry, 1985-1989. Full-time clinical faculty (lecturer), School of Optometry, 1989-present. Recipient of the Distinguished Clinical Associate awards (1994-95, 1995-96 and 1997-98) for outstanding clinical teaching and service to students. Outside activities include being an accomplished part-time professional musician, home handyman and father of two!

Research

Interests include general primary care optometry, clinical techniques and instrumentations, optometric education and communications, and the care and management of diabetic patients (having been a Type 1 diabetic since 1975).
