Who may apply?
Due to the scope of the programs and the limited spaces available, Regular Full-time and Part-time staff (as outlined in Policy 54) who have served at least one year by the start of the first module (see course description for dates) may apply.
- Leadership Essentials is aimed for non-academic and academic employees who are new to supervision or management (less than 3 years’ experience) or those without formal courses in leadership and management.
- Leadership Foundations is aimed for experienced non-academic and academic employees in leadership roles who manage teams (at least 3 years’ experience).
When will the candidates be notified?
Candidates are notified within three weeks of the application closing date.
Note: Spaces are limited. OHD may limit the number of participants from a unit.
What if my manager cannot attend one of the Manager Sessions?
OHD would meet with a manager one-on-one if necessary.
What are the time commitments?
Each person will be different. Our expectations are that each participant invests time into practicing, reading, gathering feedback and setting short and long term goals. Participants will set 1-2 hours of meetings with their supporting Manager between each module to discuss and reinforce the learning. Past participants have communicated that when time is invested valuable development is gained.
