Orientation is your official welcome to the University of Waterloo and depending on your start date of September, January, or May, programming will be offered to make sure you feel at home here.
January / May start - Winter/Spring Orientation
In January and May, we welcome Canadian and International graduate, transfer and exchange students to campus. Programming extends over two days; the first day includes sessions to welcome you to campus and familiarize yourself with services that are available to you, and the second day gives you an opportunity to connect and network with your peers. Schedule information for Winter (January) and Spring (May) Orientation will be available closer to the date.
September start - Orientation
We welcome 6,500+ new students during our Fall Orientation and offer activities for all of the students that join us as new Warriors in September.
First-year student orientation programming
All incoming, first-year students are invited to participate in first-year orientation activities which begin on your move-in day if you are living on-campus. For students living off-campus, Orientation starts on the second move-in day.
International student orientation programming
International student programming kicks-off at the end of August and runs for three days leading up to First-Year Orientation activities. Both graduate and undergraduate students are invited to join International Orientation.
First-year international students are also invited to register for first-year orientation activities and graduate students are invited to register for Graduate Orientation. Registration for these events will open in July.
Graduate student orientation programming
Graduate student programming takes place during the first week of September and is separate from First-Year Orientation.
Exchange student orientation programming
Exchange student programming takes place during the last week of August or first week of September depending on the the first day of classes.
Transfer student orientation programming
Transfer student programming takes place during the last week of August or the first week of September depending on the first day of classes.
