Saturday, June 1, 2013 12:30 pm - Sunday, June 1, 2014 12:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

   Outreach

Ongoing outreach presentations across the Waterloo region of Southern Ontario to demonstrate recent developments and issues in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. The outreach includes a short 20 minute presentation followed by 30 minutes of hands on experimentation with a Tridion-9, portable, gas chromatograph mass spectrometer (GC/MS). The demonstration is designed to be understandable by students at a grade 11 or grade 12 level. Students are also asked if they wish to participate and are given an opportunity to use the instrument themselves.

The demonstration covers modern issues in the field of environmental chemistry while showing the students contemporary methods used to detect environmental pollutants from a contaminated water sample.
