SUMMARY:The Annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest

DESCRIPTION:The annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest\, establishe
 d in\n1974 by the directors of the C. Henry Smith Trust\, offers Peace and
 \nConflict Studies (PACS) students and Grebel residents/associates an\nop
 portunity to discuss peacebuilding and social justice issues on\ncampus an
 d beyond. The intercollegiate competition is administered by\nthe Peace an
 d Justice Ministries of the Mennonite Central Committee\n(MCC). Undergradu
 ate students from every Mennonite and Brethren in\nChrist college in North
  America\, including Canada\, are eligible to\nparticipate.  \n\nHenry S
 mith was an American Mennonite historian and professor at\nMennonite colle
 ges and the University of Chicago. Overall\, he taught\nhistory for nearly
  50 years at the collegiate level. He is well-known\nfor his many books o
 n Mennonite history and his attention to the peace\ncommitments of the Men
 nonite tradition.   \n\nOn MARCH 12\, 2025\, FROM 7 PM TO 8 PM at Greb
 el\, the PACS Department\nand the Grebel Chaplaincy’s Offices are organi
 zing a speech\nperformance and inviting you to participate. This year mark
 s the 50th\nAnniversary of this peace speech competition\, and for that re
 ason\, we\nhave increased the cash prizes for the winners. The stakes have
  never\nbeen this high! The contest winners will be rewarded with cash pr
 izes\nof $1000 FOR FIRST PLACE\, $500 FOR SECOND PLACE\, AND $300 FOR THIR
