Welcome to the School of Pharmacy

The School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo is the first new pharmacy school in Canada in 20 years and housed in a state-of-the-art education and research building on the Health Sciences Campus in downtown Kitchener. 

We offer an innovative undergraduate pharmacy curriculum that integrates foundational knowledge in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences with applied skills in the clinical, behavioural and social sciences to prepare our graduates to serve as medication therapy experts. 

  1. Feb. 13, 2018Ontario pharmacy research collaborative wins major funding from Ministry of Health and Long Term Care

    The Ontario Pharmacy Evidence Network (OPEN) awarded $2 million in funding to advance work in medication management.

    Medications can improve health and save lives, but they are not without risk. With prescription medication in Ontario costing $10.6 billion per year, new strategies to help patients and healthcare providers choose, use, and remove medications are critical to providing better care and ensuring financial sustainability of the public system.

    Earlier this month, seven students from Waterloo attended Professional Development Week (PDW) 2018 in Edmonton, Alberta alongside 580 other pharmacy students. PDW is an annual conference hosted by a different Canadian pharmacy school each year. It brings students from across the country together to network, apply practical skills, and expand knowledge of current health care topics. This year was the 30th PDW, hosted by the University of Alberta Faculty of Pharmacy.

    Competing in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) was a challenging decision – as a grad student, there are so many things vying for your time. Research, course work, conferences, scholarship applications, writing – did I really want to add preparing and presenting my work to a large crowd on top of that?
