A message from Director David Edwards

Dear University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy community,

Over the last few weeks members of our community and people around the world have experienced tremendous difficulty and changes. As the situation around COVID-19 evolves, our priority remains focused on our students and community. Our winter term courses have been transitioned online and we are preparing to run the spring term entirely online as well. Researchers have delayed or suspended research activities that rely on physical access to our building unless those activities are deemed critical. Our staff and faculty have transitioned to an essential services model with most working from home, and we are all continuing to work hard to address the challenges presented by COVID-19.

The changes we implemented in the last two weeks required exceptional effort. We could not have made this transition without the incredible support of our partners, the dedication of our faculty and staff and the adaptability of our students. Regional clinical coordinators, preceptors and co-op employers have worked tirelessly alongside us to continue to offer clinical learning opportunities to our PharmD students. Faculty and staff have worked diligently to make these changes as seamless as possible for all. And our PharmD and graduate students have adapted to new realities of work, study and research with a professionalism that is inspiring. All of you have my deepest thanks.

These are stressful times and I encourage you to take care of yourself and to reach out to friends and loved ones to offer and receive support.  If you feel overwhelmed or anxious and need to talk to somebody, please contact the University’s Campus Wellness services, either Health Services (519-884-4096) or Counselling Services phone (519-888-4567 ext. 32655).

These last few weeks have demonstrated our resiliency in the face of unprecedented times. I am grateful for the understanding and support the School has received, and I assure you that we will continue to work together to ensure the best academic experience for our students.

Sincerely,

David Edwards

David Edwards, Hallman Director and Professor
