Title: Working the body for brain health
Bio: Dr. Laura Middleton joined the University of Waterloo as an assistant professor in July, 2011. She completed her PhD at Dalhousie University and a postdoctoral fellowships at University of California San Francisco and Sunnybrook Research Institute prior to joining the University of Waterloo. Her research aims to identify ways to optimize cognition across the life course and to prevent dementia in late life. In particular, she focuses on the relationship between physical activity, cognition, and brain function using techniques from several disciplines including neuroscience, exercise physiology and epidemiology. In her spare time, she is an avid rower and runner and competed for Canada at the Commonwealth and World University rowing championships in 2002.
