Thrive is a university-wide event focused on building positive mental health and raising mental health awareness for the University of Waterloo students, faculty, and staff. It is also a mindset that encourages you to flourish. We all have mental health, and we can each strengthen our mental health by learning about it, thinking about it, talking about it, and discovering new skills and resources to help us Thrive all year long.

Thrive Month is October 18 to November 12.

All Students, Faculty, and Staff are welcomed to participate!

All Month Events

Pharmacy Community Support Wall

Connecting with others and sharing your interests can be a great way to make new connections. Social interaction can help lower anxiety and depression, help with emotion regulation, result in higher self-esteem and empathy, and help improve our immune systems. Post in the collaborative Padlet and share your interests based on the prompt of the week.

Every Monday of Thrive Month, at 11:00am, we will post a new prompt for the week. Feel free to answer the old prompt or new prompt depending on what you would like to share with everyone. We encourage you to comment on each other’s posts and make friends!

School of Pharmacy Elephant in the Room Game

Don’t let mental health be the elephant in the room! Check our Instagram, Twitter or Facebook platforms for daily updates and see if you can identify where the elephants are hidden around campus based on the photo shown.

Ten elephants will be hidden around the Pharmacy building on a daily basis. Retrieve an elephant and return it to its home (PHR 2004) and you will be entered in the draw. Additionally, each day at 9:45 a.m., we will post a photo of one of the elephants so those who are not on campus can still participate. You will have until 5:00 p.m. to post your guess and be entered in the draw!

School of Pharmacy Resiliency Wall

You are not alone. Everyone encounters different challenges throughout their lives so do not be so hard on yourself! As motivation and inspiration that you can do it, feel free to read resiliency stories on our Wellness Wall. Please visit the Stories of Resiliency webpage posted by Campus Wellness to read more stories!

Check out of Wellness Wall in the School of Pharmacy’s main lobby. You can respond to the prompts on our wall or share any mental health and wellness tips you find useful.

Alternatively, if you are not on campus, you may also submit your resiliency, challenges and coping mechanisms to our Resiliency Wall Stories webform and we will put it up for you!
