Waterloo Pharmacy Alumni Reunion Virtual CE Saturday 2020

While we can't reconnect in the way we planned, we hope you can join us virtually for the fifth annual Waterloo Pharmacy Reunion CE Saturday – it’s a great opportunity to connect with former classmates, faculty, and staff while hearing about the latest hot topics in pharmacy practice.

Registration is free and includes a half-day of continuing education on current and emerging trends in the pharmacy world.

The continuing education session opens with Sammu Dhaliwall from Northwest Telepharmacy Solutions. His keynote talk will be followed by 3 Hot Topics in Pharmacy Practice, a series of CE presentations with discussion.

Keynote- Sammu Dhaliwall- Time to Become Innovators with Virtual Care

Sammu graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at U of T in 2003, completed a hospital residency from London Health Sciences Centre in 2004 and a PharmD from University of Colorado in 2010. After working several years as a pharmacist in the Emergency Department at Trillium Health Centre, Sammu transitioned to work remotely with North West Telepharmacy Solutions, the leading provider of telepharmacy services in Canada,. Sammu provided remote pharmacist support to rural and remote hospitals such as St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry's Bay, Chapleau District Hospital in Chapleau, and MICs Group of Hospital in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Bingham. Sammu has also worked remotely with the Chapleau District Family Health Team. Professor Nardine Nakhla - Levelling up patient care: the future of minor ailments

Dr. Nakhla is a community pharmacist and academic with interest in minor ailments, self-care, and no-prescription medications. Since 2008, Dr. Nakhla has designed and delivered curricular content on the assessment of self-treating patients, common illnesses and self-medication using over-the-counter (OTC) medicines in both the lecture and practical laboratory setting. She has spoken at provincial, national and international meetings on these subjects, and has written a chapter for the Canadian Minor Ailments reference.

Michael Kani (Rx2014) - Independent Pharmacy Ownership. Still a Viable Option?

Michael Kani graduated in 2014 from the School of Pharmacy and he is now a community pharmacist who is owner of Michael’s Pharmacy in Saskatoon and co-owner of Langham Pharmacy in Langham, Saskatchewan. He’s also a consultant to the Community Pharmacy Professionals Advancing Safety in Saskatchewan program and the Medical Advisor for ZYUS Life Sciences. Michael was recognized nationally by the Canadian Pharmacists Association with their New Practitioner of the Year Award in 2019. Michael is also the 2019 recipient of the School of Pharmacy's Alumni Achievement Award.
