Players at the golf tournamentWaterloo Pharmacy is excited to announce that the Annual Golf Invitational will be held this year on August 28 at the Grey Silo Golf Club.

"Pharmacy profession conferences have provided our 480 PharmD students with a unique and practical learning experience that complements the learning we experience in the classroom," says Naushin Hooda, President of the Society of Pharmacy Students.

The funds raised by the tournament encourage students to attend pharmacy conferences like Professional Development Week, the Canadian Pharmacists Association conference, and the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) conference.

These conferences are well-recognized and highly valued in the field of pharmacy, and they provide students with opportunities to identify emerging and important issues in the profession. The numerous conference presentations showcase the latest in clinical knowledge and business practices.

“As a future pharmacist, the OPA Conference was a rewarding professional development opportunity. I gained valuable knowledge and insight on current hot topics in the pharmacy profession,” said Louis Wei, a second year student who attended the OPA conference in June this year.  “Additionally, the conference provided a great platform to network with practicing pharmacists from various fields and backgrounds."

The Golf Invitational is a fun-filled day that brings together Waterloo Pharmacy faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. The event features an 18-hole game, golfing awards, and a silent auction.

Those interested in supporting the Student Success Fund are encouraged to register for the Golf Invitational.
