#AskAPharmacist: The School of Pharmacy faculty talk about why they love being a pharmacist

Now more than ever before, pharmacists in Ontario play an active role in patient healthcare.

They provide flu vaccines, counsel on quitting smoking, review medications with you, and so much more – the role is changing, and the School of Pharmacy is embracing these changes.

For the last question of the month, our #AskAPharmacist team shares what they love most about being pharmacists.

Students construct "Rx for Success" to raise awareness for the hungry in KW region

For the second year in a row, School of Pharmacy students, faculty, and staff have contributed to the University of Waterloo annual food drive, CanBuild.

Volunteers from the School of Pharmacy team created larger-than-life pill vial, symbolic of the important role pharmacists play in counselling patients on their medications. The vial also hints at the diverse services available from pharmacists, such as medication checks for patients taking many medications.

Pharmacy students run outreach initiative for elementary school children

March is Pharmacist Awareness Month (PAM) and that means that our students are out in the community, sharing their pharmacy knowledge in venues like Conestoga Mall and in Kitchener and Waterloo classrooms.

Roger Ayoub and Urooj Advani were some of the 33 volunteers who participated in PAM Outreach.

Pharmacy hosts inaugural New Grad Panel for Pharmacist Awareness Month

On Mar 22, the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy welcomed back recent alumni for the first ever New Grad Panel, a Pharmacist Awareness Month (PAM) event. The Panel, organized by PAM Chair Heidi Fernandes and Jr CAPSI Rep Monique Eisa, featured recent graduates representing a diverse cross-section of pharmacy practice. It took a question and answer approach where the new grads talked  pharmacy life with current students.
