Debbie’s experience includes community pharmacy practice, pharmacy benefit management and pharmaceutical advertising and communications.
Formerly an independent pharmacy owner in a family health team clinic in Cambridge, Ontario, she conducted in-service training to physicians and nurses, served as President of the RWPA, and gave presentations to local patient advocacy groups and schools.
Later Debbie joined the insurance industry as Director of Clinical Services for RxPlus (now ClaimSecure) and then as a Health Benefits Consultant with HR Consulting firm WatsonWyatt, helping large employers and WSIB manage the rising cost of drug plans. At this time she was a member of the OPA Public Affairs Committee and sat on the CPhA Electronic Drug Claim Standards Committee.
Debbie has expertise in developing pharmacist training programs - helping Pharmasave pharmacy owners learn to collaborate with their local employers to manage drug and disability costs and developing an automated telephone refill reminder program for Teva’s independent pharmacy customers.
More recently Debbie held a senior position at a pharmaceutical advertising agency, helping product managers create marketing plans for Branded prescription drug products and developing promotional, educational and adherence tools and programs for patients and healthcare providers. She continued to maintain her pharmacy licence working part-time in chain pharmacies.
As an Experiential Coordinator for the Bridging Program, Debbie is the main contact for PHARM 497 for both students and assessors.
