DESCRIPTION:The concept of intelligence has been difficult to get one’s a
 rms\naround. Surprisingly\, the same can be said also of the notion of\nre
 asoning. This talk aims at shedding some light on certain aspects of\nhuma
 n reasoning - reasoning for practical life. This will put us in a\nbetter 
 position to make some comparisons between (some aspects of)\nhuman reasoni
 ng\, and what Large Language Models (LLMs) are doing -\nthey look to be do
 ing quite different things.  Reasoning\, at least as\nhumans do it\, invo
 lves architecture that Computer Science has\napparently abandoned for the 
 current generation of AI models. We will\npose questions about whether thi
 s current generation is capable of\nmoving past their present obstacles.
