Waterloo Researchers Build Giant Brain

A team of researchers from the University of Waterloo has built the world's largest simulation of a functioning brain. It can help scientists understand how the complex activity of the brain gives rise to the complex behaviour exhibited by animals, including humans.

Teaching Undergraduates to Examine the Science-Society Interface

This Winter 2013 term, the Department of Philosophy offers undergraduates across campus a special topics course on Science in Society (Philosophy 271). Taught by Waterloo Chair in Science and Society, Dr. Heather Douglas, the course gives students from all backgrounds the opportunity to examine the powerful role of science and scientists in society today.
