Astronomy Lunch Series

Dustin LangDustin Lang

Visiting pstdoctoral fellow, Department of Physics & astronomy, University of Waterloo
Senior Research Associate, Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics, University of Toronto

I'll first present Astrometry.net, a code that can recognize astronomical images, or determine where they belong on the sky.  I'll then describe a project where we used this capability to reconstruct the 3-d orbit of Comet Holmes using images we found using web image search.
