Bound entanglement comment in Nature Physics

Experimental Bound Entanglement?, by Jonathan Lavoie, Rainer Kaltenbaek, Marco Piani, and Kevin Resch was published in Nature Physics.  This work comments on a claim of experimental bound entanglement published late last year in the same journal.

Predicting holes in the ozone layer

Dr. Qing-Bin Lu’s latest studies in ozone depletion predict the occurrence of the largest ozone hole over the South Pole in one or two weeks.

Patrick McVeigh awarded Vanier Scholarship

Patrick McVeigh was recently awarded a prestigious Vanier Scholarship. Patrick was a student in the department of Physics and Astronomy from 2003 to 2008. He worked with Professor Forrest for a co-op term and for his 437 A/B projects. He work led to the publication "Influence of nanoparticle size on the pH dependent structure of adsorbed proteins studied with quantitative localized surface plasmon spectroscopy" published in the European Physical Journal E: Soft Matter in October 2009. Patrick is now in the combined PhD/MD program at the University of Toronto.

Vanier Canada graduate scholarship

On Thursday, May 13, the federal Minister of Industry officially announced the 2010 recipients of Canada’s highest honor for doctoral students, each chosen as a result of their demonstrated leadership skill and high standard of scholarly achievement. Stephen Inglis, a M.Sc. candidate in the Quantum Matters group, was recognized for his work on "Advanced simulation techniques for exploring exotic phases of quantum matter."
