Stephanie Swanson and Emily Carlson receive University of Waterloo HeForShe IMPACT Scholarships

Six young women entering STEM disciplines have been awarded a 2016 University of Waterloo HeForShe IMPACT scholarship.

Physics student Anya Forestell speaks at HeForShe Anniversary event in NYC

Anya Forestell, a student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, spoke today at the second anniversary celebration of the UN Women's HeForShe movement for gender equity.

Forestell shared her experiences as being a woman in STEM. The event was held at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) event in New York City.

New magnetic slush model offers new approach to modeling glasses

Waterloo physicist Michel Gingras and post-doctoral fellow Jeffrey Rau have succeeded in describing the mixed frozen and dynamical behaviour of glasses by adapting a theoretical model originally designed to study a class of magnetic materials called spin ices.
