World Town Planning Day

On this day every year, planners in over 30 countries celebrate by hosting and engaging in activities to raise the awareness of the importance of planning in their communities. World Town Planning Day highlights and recognizes the impacts of Planning in many aspects of our daily life.

Planning in Ontario has far-reaching implications for the future of our communities; resources have never been scarcer, and decision-makers have many challenging choices ahead. RPPs bring the ability and expertise to help inform decisions and help communities adapt and thrive.  

In the spirit of World Town Planning Day, professionals will share their knowledge, expertise and passion for planning healthy and sustainable communities for current and future generations of Ontario. 


Students presenting charetteThe School of Planning has proudly hosted World Town Planning Day events that bring together students in University and high school to participate in a variety of activities, such as design charettes, to brainstorm and navigate through various topic in Planning.

Throughout the years, many themes have been central to the celebration of this day ranging from healthy communities, to mobility and housing, to smart cities, all encompassing how governments operate and citizens live, work and study.
