Student Associations

Planning Students Association (PSA)

The PSA is the governing student body over Planning undergraduates. Each semester, new representatives are voted in by the student population. The PSA holds tons of planning specific events throughout the year and sells trendy School of Planning gear. The PSA is a great way to get involved in the school community.

University Clubs and Associations

The University of Waterloo has many clubs and associations available for the student population. View a complete list of clubs and associations available at the university. Visit the SLC on club day to meet with club representatives and get more information on the club.

Graduate Student Associations (GSA)

The GSA is a student run organization that consists of graduate students. The organization focuses on lobbying in the interest of student needs and provides a range of services for graduate students.

Association of Graduate Planners (AGP)

This student led body of Planning alumni from the University of Waterloo hosts a number of networking events for graduate students and offers a range of services to aid students.

Events

Induction Ceremony

The induction ceremony is a special event to mark the beginning of your journey through the Planning profession. During the event, guest speakers from the School of Planning welcome the new undergraduates and give them a sneak peak of what is to come in following years followed by a meet and greet with the School’s director.

World Town Planning Day

Celebrated annually on November 8th, World Town Planning Day aims to promote the Planning profession to Canadians everywhere by hosting a number of workshops, guest speakers and events throughout the day. This is an excellent way to learn more about Planning or to get involved in the community.

Lecture Series and Guest Speakers

Throughout the term, a themed lecture series and guest speakers are available on a weekly basis. These lectures cover a variety of topics related to planning, the environment and more!

Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony concludes the students’ trip through the School of Planning. A luncheon is held before the official graduation ceremony where students receive a Planning ring to signify their professional education.

Toronto Alumni Dinner

Hundreds of planners, developers and politicians meet annually in Toronto to participate in one of the largest planning events in the region. Here, students will get the chance to network and learn about hot topics in the field. This dinner is hosted by the University of Waterloo Planning Alumni of Toronto (UWPAT).
